The "Fandom Menace," Reylos, and Star Wars According to Twitter

Minutes after 'The Rise of Skywalker" first premiered, fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts about the film. The reactions were mixed at best, and appalled and outraged at worst. As more audiences saw the movie, and as more post-release interviews came out from cast and creatives, fans grew more disappointed with the ending of the saga. here are some takes on the movie:

1) Rey, the trilogy's protagonist and seemingly "chosen one," ended up alone on the desert planet Tatooine in the end. Many found the ending a depressing injustice to the character.

2) Other fans noted how statements from producers involved appeared to backpedal on creative decisions in order to combat fan reactions, resulting in a confusing message from creators.

3) Many were disappointed as they felt it let key viewers down, such as children (since the franchise is family-oriented). Some fans even joked how the late Carrie Fisher would be unlikely to approve of the movie.

4) A notable post-film disaster was the release of The Rise of Skywalker concept art book. Released initially in China, thew content revealed completely different concepts than what appeared in the final product. The images in the book were unrecognizable when compared to the theatrical released. Soon after, the United States released of the book was delayed indefinitely, and all existing copies of the Chinese version were ordered to be destroyed.
